Obituary of Shawn D. Stover

Shawn Dennis Stover, 65, of Hamel, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025, at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, MO, surrounded by his family. Shawn was born May 18, 1959, in Pontiac, MI, son of Joseph and Joyce B. (Ring) Stover. He graduated from Carlinville High School with the Class of 1978. He married Peggijane Brown on December 12, 1989, at the Green County Courthouse. Shawn was a man of many trades. He was a grocery store manager in Haines City, FL at Dollar General Market, Manager at Mt. Olive Bowl, Bar Manager for the Carlinville Elk's Lodge, Corrections Officer at Graham Correctional Center, and a past member of both the BPOE 1412 and the Carlinville Moose Lodge. He loved camping, his grandchildren, and tinkering with and fixing things. He and Peggijane loved listening to music and attending live music events. He will be remembered as an honorary dad to many and a friend to all. Shawn was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Keith Stover. The family plans a celebration of life at a later date. Shawn is survived by his wife, Peggijane Stover of Hamel, IL; son, James "Jimmy" (Valerie) Stover of Clermont, FL; daughter, Ashley (Brett) Walden of Glen Carbon, IL; and grandchildren: Madison Stover, Therese Stover, Zackery Stover, Hadley Walden, and Augustus Walden.
