Condolences
I have been a close friend of Jim's for most of a lifetime. As mentioned here by several other's, it's Jim's SMILE that I'll carry with me the rest of the way. There were some variations: a little impish during a shared joke; a little excited watching " his" team do well; a little proud talking about his family. But somehow even over the course of the last 4 years as ALS slowly and relentlessly worsened, he nearly always carried that warm, hopeful, loving smile. It honestly was the very last look I saw on his face the last time I left him and Dawn a few days before he peacefully passed on.

Prayers are flowing for Jim and his wonderful family. Had so many great talks on football with Jim over the years when I seen him at the store. Always smiling and a such a gentle soul. Huge loss for this community. See ya on the other side my friend. Gregory Smith
Jim always had a big smile, enjoyed our visit at family reunion. Praying for comfort and peace for his family. A lovely Christian man., he will be missed.
Jim & I knew each other since we were kids. We graduated together from Girard in 1972. His sister Cindy Sidwell was one of my best friends. She & her husband Paul Sidwell were our neighbors for over 30 years. Jim was a dynamo, an all-around good guy whom you could talk to. He had such an impact on the Girard community. He left a huge mark & imprint on the history of Girard. Another Girard giant is gone too soon. I know he has now found peace. He will be missed.
My heart is saddened to hear this news. Though I moved from Girard in 1971 and did not get to see Jim very much, when I did run into Jim he always had such kind words to me. Jim always admired my younger days baseball skills and would compliment me about those talents every time I saw him. He was a great guy and wonderful committed Christian man. I am assured that Jim will be awaiting all his family and friends who have accepted Jesus as their Savior and OH what a time it will be. May God's Blessings be upon all Jim's family and friends.
Jim was a great man. Have me a job as a young man. We stayed friends. I look forward to seeing Jim again. Thank you Jim.
My heart is aching...a great man gone too soon. Years back i worked for him and without question he was the best boss i ever worked for. Always smiling and such a joy to be around. I feel so very blessed to have known him and i send my deepest sympathy to his family. God bless you all during this most difficult time. May we all find comfort in knowing that there is a special place in heaven for him as he was truly the best.
Jim always had a kind word for everyone. My condolences to Jim's family
So sorry to see this. Prayers to his many family and friends. Jim was an amazing example of kindness and he was always pleasant. He will be remembered fondly.
So sorry for your loss.
Jim never met a stranger. He was always great at helping many of the organizations I was involved with at the schools and others. He was also a good employer by helping many kids get their first jobs
A great family man and supporter of his community and friends.
He will be missed by many.
I remember him so very well, always seeing him in the store and stocking shelves. Such a kind man. Whenever I brought some new product to work and the girls would ask me where I got it, they would stop and say, oh wait, from Cherry’s. Always made me laugh because he always had new product and they could never find it. Best grocery store ever. And Jim was always there with a smile and happy to help. He will be missed. My prayers to all the family.
