Arthur R. "Reggie" Rouse
68 of Hettick, passed away Tuesday evening, May 5, 2015 at the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy, IL.
Reggie was born on February 10, 1947 to Woody and Carmen (Neher) Rouse in Carlinville, IL. He graduated from Northwestern High School with the class of 1965 and later received his Associates Degree in Agriculture from Lincoln Land Community College. Reggie served in the United States Navy during Vietnam from 1965 to 1969 as a BT3. He married Carlene Mitch on May 27, 1966 at the Mitch residence in Hettick and she survives.
Reggie was a coal miner, working for Freeman United Crown II mine in Virden as an electrical repairman, retiring in 2002. He also worked as a Ranger for the Abraham Lincoln Council at Camp Bunn for 30 years, as well as helping his family and friends farm. He was a trustee and former Road Commissioner for Barr Township and was active with the Hettick Fire Department and Community Club. Reggie was a member of the Palmyra American Legion Post #1034 and enjoyed his grandchildren and their activities, as well as golfing and fishing.
Reggie is survived by his wife, Carlene Rouse of Hettick; daughter, Christine (Steve) Hendrickson of Atoka, TN; son, Jon (Stacey) Rouse of Carlinville; 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor and Tess Hendrickson and Riley, Jack and Sophie Rouse; three brothers, Ted (Susan) Rouse of Las Vegas, NV, Rodney (Kathy) Rouse of Virden and Eric Rouse of Palmyra; sister, Marilyn (Larry) Lane of Waterford, WS; several nieces and nephews and his beloved pets, Scooter and Susie.
Reggie was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:30 am at the funeral home in Carlinville with Father Albert Allen and Rev. Thurman Stewart officiating.
Burial will take place in Hettick Cemetery, with full military rites. Donations Information
