James R. "Marty" Rogers
56, of Carlinville, passed away Saturday afternoon November 23, 2013 at Carlinville Area Hospital.
He was born on September 5, 1957 to Martin F. and Marjorie E. (Miller) Rogers in Carlinville. He graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1975. Jim then attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Blackburn College in Carlinville, and then finished at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. On December 26, 1989 Jim married Jane S. Marko in Carlinville. Jane preceded him in death on July 5, 2005.
Marty worked as an I.T. for Legal Files Software, Inc. in Springfield. He was a member of the Carlinville Lions Club, loved reading, music, and computers. Marty loved the outdoors, animals, and special times he had with his family and friends. Marty was a "dreamer" and philosopher.
Jim is survived by a special friend, Dawn Gockel-Jones of Staunton, Illinois; 3 brothers - David Rogers (wife Grace) of Delafield, Wisconsin, M.J. Rogers of Carlinville, and Robert C. Rogers of Carlinville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his wife Jane, Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013, at 10:00 am at the Carlinville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Sabo officiating.
Jim will be laid to rest next to his wife, Jane in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Carlinville. Following the committal service there will be a time for food and fellowship at the home of Bob Rogers. Donations Information
